SUBMISSIONS

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED TO FURTHER SUBMISSIONS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!

BE SURE TO CHECK BACK PERIODICALLY FOR UPDATES!

ANTHOLOGIES: At this time, we are primarily seeking short stories between 500 and 7500 words for themed anthologies. These submissions will be given priority.

GRAPHIC NOVELS: We are now open to graphic novel submissions. Submitted projects must be complete. Reprints will be considered as long as they are not available through another publisher or online service, whether paid or unpaid.

NOVELS, NOVELLAS, NOVELETTES & SHORT FICTION: We are currently open to novels that form part of a series (65,000 words minimum), novellas (20,000-40,000 words), novelettes (7,500-20,000 words), and short stories (500-7,500 words). Please note that we are NOT currently open to standalone novels: Any full-length novel submissions MUST form part of a series (preference will be given to series that that have at least three finished parts ready for submission). Please note that we will only publish works that are under 40,000 words as part of an anthology, so please ensure that you either have a collection of stories ready, or that your story fits one of our themed anthologies listed below.

You will be notified whether your submission is accepted or rejected. For anthology pieces, you will be notified no later than four weeks after the submission deadline. For all other pieces, you will be notified within 10 weeks of the date of your submission. If you have not received a response by that time, please email us.

Guidelines

First and foremost, UNLESS otherwise specified in project guidelines, all submissions must be horror.

However, we recognize that horror is a very broad and nuanced genre. To that end, we’ll read stories that fit into other genres (thriller, family drama, coming of age, science fiction, fantasy, comedy, romance, et cetera) as long as the story contains horror, and as long as horror is integral to the narrative.

ALL submissions MUST meet the following requirements (documents that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to authors for correction):

1. 11- or 12-point Times New Roman font ONLY (no other fonts, please)

2. Use “SMART QUOTES”

3. Submit all documents as an attachment in .doc, .docx, or .pages format

4. Do not use headers, footers (such as page numbers), or any specialized formatting.

5. Do NOT use Enter to start a new line as this leads to formatting issues. Only use Enter to start new paragraphs.

6. Do NOT double-space your submissions. Instead, use 1.5 or 2.0 paragraph spacing.

Submit via email to soteirapress@gmail.com

In the body of the email, include your name and contact information.

Unpublished stories are given preference, but we consider reprints on a case by case basis, as long as all rights have reverted to the author.

If your previously unpublished piece is accepted for publication in an anthology, we take First Print and Electronic Publishing Rights, with exclusivity for twelve months from the date of publication.

If we accept your reprint for publication in an anthology, we take nonexclusive reprint rights.

A copy of our publishing contract is available upon request.

As payment, authors will receive royalties divided by word count, paid every 4 months (April, August, December) via Venmo.

OPEN SUBMISSIONS: Anthologies

These are general guidelines for ALL anthology submissions.

We are looking for stories between 1500-7500 words. A few words under or over won’t necessarily disqualify a story, but please keep as close to the guidelines as possible.

Unless otherwise specified in project guidelines below, all stories MUST fit within the horror genre.

Now, without further ado…
